You can make great caramel popcorn for any occasion or holiday. Bake the popcorn a little less if you prefer chewy popcorn.

  • 5 quarts of popped popcorn
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • ½ cup corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

  • Step 1

Preheat the oven to 250°F (120°C). Put popcorn in a large bowl.

Over medium heat, melt butter in a saucepan. Add brown sugar, corn syrup and salt. Bring to boil while stirring continuously. Boil for 4 minutes without stirring.

Stir in the vanilla and baking soda. While stirring, drizzle caramel over the popcorn. Stir until well coated

  • Step 4

Divide popcorn between two large shallow baking dishes. Bake for one hour in the preheated oven. Stir every 15 minutes.

Take out of the oven and allow to cool before slicing.
